Sandpiper: What the mind does not know the eyes cannot see
I spotted a flock of birds in flight and when they landed they seemed to disappear! Only on very close observation, I found them to be well camouflaged in the wet rocks of the sea shore. While clicking, in many of the photographs I could not spot them through the viewfinder, but since I knew they were there, I clicked anyway. When I viewed the photographs at full zoom, only then I could make out the teeming birds, not one or two but at least three dozen. I had some difficulty in spotting its name and still am not fully convinced but most likely it is one of the Sandpipers, either the Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos), likely to be their juvenile or perhaps in some non breeding plumage or they are the Green Sandpiper (Tringa ochropus). Nevertheless, a very rewarding endeavour! I have put some of the carefully selected photos and purposefully not cropped them so as to keep the camouflage effect!
