|The Garden inside the palace|
|The dilapidated exteriors|
Deep inside the Kerala plantation country just short of the tourist hub of Thekkady, lies Peermade. It is just a stopover for most tourists but it has a charm of its own with spectacular views, Tea Gardens, resting place of a pir
and an obscure dilapidated palace. It also boasts of expansive (but not expensive
) less cluttered tourist accommodation than the heavily commercialised hub of Kumily. The palace is in poor state of maintenance. It does give you a sense of grandeur and reminded me of Ozymandias
! I was informed by the caretaker that the property has now been taker over by a Bangalore firm and may transition into a heritage hotel, so it might rise like phoenix once more!
