Akkulam LAke is frequented by the elusive Kingfisher. The actual species, it turns out, is named 'White Throated Kingfisher' (Halycon smyrnensis fusca). A spotted a pair, one feeding the other a centipede but due to the lighting the colours have not come as spectacular as you expect in a Kingfisher. A distant shot, however, revealed the unmistakable blue backs and brown heads.
